Those who went to Helping Up Mission prepared and served food to men and women in Baltimore who have been consumed by addiction , poverty or homelessness . Around the holidays , staff donated toys and wrapped them to give to children who did not have presents of their own .
Once the pandemic hit and stay at home orders were instituted , Visit Baltimore employees still found ways to donate time and resources from home , such as writing uplifting messages to residents of assisted living facilities , thanking front line workers for their service and donating to the Baltimore Restaurant Tip Jar to benefit restaurant workers who had been laid off .
