Why Now?
Vision Zero began in Sweden in 1997, and
traffic deaths have reduced by half in the

Traffic Safety Through the Years
country since it started. Anticipating that
people will make mistakes, Sweden's
"safe system" approach prioritizes safety
by creating safe roads, slowing speeds,

people and enforcing laws to support
