Completion of Service Continued
Ken and Roz Ken and Roz were accepted as long term cross-cultural candidates in November 2010 . They were motivated by God to bring the Good News of Jesus to people who had not had the opportunity to hear of it by building significant relationships with local people .
Ken and Roz arrived in the Silk Road Area in April 2013 and began learning language and culture . During their first 3 year term they also became involved in teaching English at a local school . Ken and Roz completed their time in July 2017 . During their time of service they had opportunities to develop friendships with local K people and walk alongside them in times of grief . They also felt honoured to be invited to several K family celebrations .
Ken and Roz completed their service on 18 October 2017 . We extend to them our prayerful good wishes as they settle into life in Australia and seek what God has in store for their future .
Paul and Cathy Paul , a Pastor and Cathy , a Registered Nurse , along with daughters Emma and Melissa , moved to Thailand with Global Interaction in September 2002 . Initially in Bangkok for Culture and Language lessons , the family moved to Chiang Mai in 2004 with the aim of sharing the Gospel and journey with people toward following Jesus in distinctively Thai ways .
Cathy established meaningful friendships with local market vendors , people at a sports stadium and with staff at a local public library where she supported the English program for many years . Having a good knowledge of the local culture and language , Cathy journeyed with many Ethnic Thai people , giving them guidance , counsel and words of encouragement .
Over their years in Thailand , Paul developed deep friendships with local people . He spent time teaching and visiting widely , as well as lecturing at the University . He competently led the team for a period , guiding them to focus on Global Interaction ’ s vision and mission as well as providing wise counsel and pastoral care .
Paul has significant experience and knowledge of Buddhism and the Ethnic Thai culture . He has valuable insight in growing cross-cultural workers understanding of ministry in a Buddhist context and he will continue to work with our teams serving in Thailand and Cambodia .
They have returned to Australia and completed service with Global Interaction in June 2017 .
Robyn Robyn has made a significant contribution to the work of Global Interaction in Africa , initially in Zambia and later in Malawi . As a nurse , Robyn went to work at the busy Fiwale Hill Clinic , Zambia , in 1981 where she was involved in clinic work and as an educator in primary health care before returning to Australia in 1987 . In 2006 , she began serving in Malawi , where she and her Malawian colleagues coordinated functional education classes in a number of villages where men and women learned to read and write as they learned life skills including business , gardening , health , sanitation and nutrition . Robyn also wrote simple readers about life in Malawi to help build reading skills to enable people to read God ’ s Word in their own language .
As a result of her speaking the heart language of the Yawo , Robyn developed some very close friendships and was able to share about her faith . Upon completion of her time in Malawi , many of her friends grieved at her farewell . She was valued and loved by many .
Robyn completed her service with Global Interaction in April 2017 . We extend to Robyn our prayerful good wishes as she settles into life in Australia and seeks what God has in store for her future .
