Put a name
to that smile
At Kempsey Macleay RSL, we are super proud of our fantastic
staff members. We thought we’d help you to put a name to
the smiles you might see when you visit our clubs.
MEET KEVIN PUGH
Kevin can be found greeting you at the Club’s
reception with a big smile. Today, we get to
learn a little more about this keen
surfer from Crescent Head.
MEET EDWINA NILAND
Edwina, also known as ‘Eddie’ is one of our
vibrant waitstaff to greet you at Freshwater
Grill (FG) Restaurant.
Edwina, what is your favourite food and
beverage combination from FG’s?
Lloyd’s mornay seafood special and Jip Jip
Sauvignon Blanc!
You have a magnificent view over the Macleay
river when you are at work. Does it make for an
easy work environment?
Absolutely, I feel very lucky to look out on
such a view during lunch shifts, especially at
the moment with the jacarandas in gorgeous
bloom!
People would be surprised to
know……………………………?
That I’m a total nerd! ... Actually, they
probably all know that already!
Do you have a personal motto or personal
mantra?
At the moment, I think I’ll borrow Ellen’s, “be
kind to one another”.

Kevin, tell me what you enjoy doing on your
weekends (Monday & Tuesday)?
A bit of surfing, some gardening and enjoying
good food with a cold beverage.
What is your favourite food to enjoy at the
KMRSL?
I can’t go past the Steak Special on a Sunday
with Diane Sauce. I’m also partial to a Caesar
Salad from Café Fresh.
What makes working at the KMRSL special?
I enjoy the interaction with the staff and patrons.
Everyone here is pretty cool.
I hear you have a passion for nature and that
you can also be found nurturing our plants at the
RSL and have a few chickens roaming at your
home. Tell us about this...
(Laughs) I’m a greenkeeper by trade and have
a love for the environment and the colours in
nature. Look at my office views, overlooking the
spectacular Macleay River with the purple hues
from the jacarandas overhanging. The Macleay
Valley is just magic from the mountains to the
sea and it will never grow old to me. It is
honestly the best place in the world and I just
feel lucky to live and work here.
Don’t forget to say ‘hi’ to Kevin next time you visit
the Club.
