Vision Spring / Summer 2019 | Page 2

Letter from Bruce Dear Friends, As happens so often in Vision magazine, this edition anticipates future possibilities for ministry as well as reflects on and gives thanks for the past. From the Yawo Dictionary project (Malawi and Mozambique) and the Kyaka Enga Bible revision (Papua New Guinea) to the exploration of how Creation Care impacts our theology of mission, future possibilities are emerging! In this edition, we also celebrate and give thanks for the faithfulness of those who have served long and well, as Jane and Lindsay have done for over 30 years in Hong Kong. We learn so much from those who have come before us. This came home to me again recently when two of our former cross-cultural workers turned one hundred years of age. Yes, two of them! Nola Hodgson went to East Bengal (now Bangladesh) in 1945 and served there until 1952 when she married Ralph. Nola celebrated her one hundredth birthday in August. She can still greet you in the language she learnt all those years ago and continues to pray for the people of that land. Betty Shinkfield also served in East Bengal, arriving in 1950. Together with husband Des, Betty continued to serve with Global Interaction until 1957. Betty also celebrated her one hundredth birthday in August. Betty continues her commitment to mission by sending medical supplies to remote places where supplies are difficult to obtain. Following Jesus and responding to the call to serve wherever He directs us… We praise God that so many have done so in the past and pray that others will do so now. Is God calling you? Why not respond today? Grace and Peace, Bruce Tudball Interim General Director THANK YOU! We give thanks to all who have participated in May Mission Month 2019. GROW where you’re planted, SOW where He calls shared testimony to what God’s people can do when we come together in His name to build His Kingdom among least-reached people groups. Amount raised this May Mission Month: $632,681!
