Q- It seems like alot of the top big air talent comes out of the Netherlands, why do you think that is?
A- If it ain’ t Dutch, it ain’ t much. Haha!
Q- Alot of people look at megaloops and think they are quite scary. What advice do you have for people who want to go big?
A- Going big is the best feeling in the world. Working your way up the ladder is well needed so I suggest you start with small steps. First of all get comfortable riding full speed and jumping. Then jump harder and higher. Quickly you’ ll get into the groove and feel that it’ s important to have the right speed going into the jump, spotting the right take off spot and timing your pop and pull. Once you get airborne you want to be in control, so tense up your stomach muscles, bring your chest out and feel in control. If you want to throw in a Megaloop then jump as high as possible, edge hard and pull hard at the same time … then after a controlled take-off you keep pulling the kite around until it comes back up again in order to catch you. Point the nose of your board downwind and steer the kite back in for some forward speed. Nail it and love it!:-) Haha … it’ s easy.
Q- What do you do to prepare before a big session?
A- I always make sure that my gear is in check and that I do a solid warming to prepare for the unexpected.
