Q- Was it tough getting back into the groove of things or was it like riding a bike?
A- Coming back from an injury ain’ t easy but coming back from 30 liters of poison is something completely different. I’ ve never felt so weak, in pain and out of it before. Taking it easy ain’ t my strongest part either but it was oh so important to make a full and quick recovery. By working together with a naturopath we were able to flush all the heavy metals and toxins out of my body in 6 months. This normally takes a year. We could’ ve done it quicker but we choose to use the benefits of the after effects of the chemo. As soon as I was back to full strength I was in my happy place and training zone. Then being back on the water with new gear is just so exciting. Way more exciting than riding a bike!
Q- You are an inspiration to many people, but what inspires you?
A- Hah, I hear that a lot. I’ m glad people feed of my energy and actions. What fills me up with motivation and drive to do what I love is a combination of things. I’ ve got a passion for life in general so I get inspired by a lot of people whom I get to meet, work with, kite with or simply drink a beer with. It can be kids that are more free and alive than the majority of the world. Happiness and freedom inspire me most I guess.
