Here, at Kempsey Macleay RSL Club, we are proud to invite you with us to host a private Degustation Event.
Originating out of French Kitchens in the early 20th Century, the term‘ degustation’ refers to“ small amounts to taste”. At a time when a standard meal was a single-serving, a degustation involved sampling and enjoying small morsels across several courses. The degustation typically included savories, cheese, dessert and wine amongst many other edible items and it is believed the degustation experience commenced from early evening‘ til dawn.

It is a time to enrich the senses, savour the flavours and scents of dish, to appreciate the detail and design of the cuisine. A menu rich in fresh local produce and high quality meat sourced from farms of the Macleay Valley, much attention has been paid to create a dining experience that pays homage to the family, farm and produce. Our menus not only change with the seasons, but we personalise it to suit your guests or event needs.
Head Chef, Lloyd Newell, will custom-design a menu with paired wines. Born and bred in the Macleay Valley, Lloyd returned to the area after many years working in fine dining establishments. He and his kitchen team are extremely passionate about the produce the Macleay Valley yields and designs the degustation menus based solely on the beautiful produce readily available.

We offer two function rooms that can cater to 50 guests, or open into one larger space for 150 guests. Our rooms offer flexibility in your choice of layout to suit your requirements. We can also reserve a space for you in Freshwater Grill Restaurant for smaller parties of 30 people or less.
