CHAIRMAN ’ S REPORT
On behalf of your Board , it is both my pleasure and privilege to report on our Clubs activities for the year ended 2016 .
Net profit for the year was $ 240,923.00 , after providing for depreciation of $ 1,191,154.00 , giving you a cash flow profit of $ 1,585,177.00 . This is the cash flow measure that funds your business operation . This saw an increase on the previous years ’ cash flow of $ 243,447.00 . Increased revenue has been achieved across many areas , one particular area that stands out is the increased patronage to the weekend raffles with revenue up $ 47,000.00 on the previous year . Donations both in cash and in kind totalled $ 108,381.00 .
In September , we celebrated the one year anniversary of our highly popular children ’ s activity centre , Tabatinga . Parents and carers have also appreciated the introduction of the “ Drop & Dine ” opportunities .
At the Macleay Valley Business Awards , we received four awards : Best Tourism Attraction for Hotel & Clubs , Dave Nixon the Employee of the Year , Best New Business and Excellence in
12
Innovation for Tabatinga which went on to win at the Regional Awards and completed the Clubs successful awards year in being named runners up at the NSW State Awards .
Both our men ’ s and ladies ’ bowlers enjoyed another successful year , both in pennants and having full greens for our annual tournaments . Special mention to our greenkeeper , Craig Hayfield , and our Bowls Co-Ordinator , Rocky Stone for the great jobs they are doing .
Sporting clubs , The Rangers Soccer Club , Cannonballs Rugby Union Club and Nulla Cricket Club now call the Bowlo home .
Following this increase in sponsorship and being a family orientated facility , a new outdoor play area should be available by the end of March .
Postal voting this year is for two Directors , Warren Gallard and John Daley , who bring solid backgrounds in finance to our board and having completed their terms ask you , the members , the opportunity to continue the cohesion that exists at the current Board level . Under the triennial voting system , this means that the two directors elected this year will serve a three-year term , when they will next be eligible to be re-elected . Many thanks to our Board for their ongoing support .
It is always a great pleasure to be able to commend our dedicated employees , from our CEO Daniel Abela , Admin & Duty Managers , Head Chef Lloyd Newell and his team , Sue Fuller and her Café team and all staff right through the ranks . Your Board is proud of the way you have carried out your duties by treating people cheerfully and giving of good service and civility . Thank you .
This past year as Chairman , I have enjoyed the challenges that the position presents . This has been made easier by the support and encouragement given to me from all the above mentioned . Thank you .
On a sad note during the year we lost Dick Saul AM and Denis ‘ Tad ’ O ’ Leary . Both served our club for many years . Dick was a life member , RSL District Councillor and Vice President for 36 years . Tad was an employee in the club industry for 30 years , assistant manager upon his retirement and was an incumbent director of five years . To those members who have lost loved ones during the year , the Club extends its deepest sympathy to those families .
Clubs such as ours will always remain the backbone of the community . A helping hand for those in need and a source of quality food , drink and entertainment for our many members . We ask for your continued support so we can continue to be a place to call home .
