Visibility of eTwinning Projects Group July 2025 Newsletter
periods such as the COVID-19 pandemic, eTwinning teachers came together to design alternative instructional scenarios and produced creative solutions to ensure the continuity of learning.
In this context, eTwinning positions itself not merely as a project-based platform but also as a digital learning ecosystem where teachers stand united in times of crisis, preserving professional morale and motivation through mutual support and collaborative resilience.
Sustainability in education through interdisciplinary and thematic projects eTwinning projects can be structured around a wide range of themes including nature, environment, science, culture, history, mathematics, art, and technology.
In STEM-focused projects, students ' skills in critical thinking, problem solving, and creative production are particularly
emphasized, whereas in culturally oriented projects, intercultural sensitivity and social interaction competencies are significantly enhanced( Sansur, 2022: 36).
For instance, in a nature-themed activity such as the“ Rain Chain Challenge,” students from different countries collaboratively developed solution proposals on issues such as the climate crisis, water harvesting, and sustainable living. They participated in a collective knowledge production process by transforming scientific research and field observations into digital products.
Similarly, projects addressing themes such as marine pollution, energy efficiency, and eco-friendly consumption habits foster a sense of global responsibility in students, empowering them to become conscientious individuals in the face of global challenges.
Challenges of digital transition and the culture of collaborative learning: The evolution from eTwinning to ESEP As part of the restructuring of European education policies in line with digitalization efforts, the eTwinning platform was integrated under the umbrella of the newgeneration digital interface, the European School Education Platform( ESEP), starting the year 2022. While this transition was framed as a strategic move to enhance the system’ s technical and functional capacity, it also introduced a somewhat wide range of adaptation challenges for teachers and project coordinators during the implementation phase( Yılmaz, 2022: 37).
