Project phases Under the title A Different Perspective on Science 1, the first year focused on four key technological tools – automobile, computer, airplane, and television – in collaboration between Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
In the following years, Scientific Blunders 2 and 3 – From Nature to Technology explored each tool in greater depth, incorporating the concept of biomimicry. Through examples like automobiles and airplanes inspired by nature, students, especially in the social sciences, were encouraged to view nature as a source of inspiration for humanity.
Throughout the project, online meetings were held with experts. Mechanical engineers discussed automobile systems, academics explained computer systems, and upcycling artist A. Ceylan contributed to the car-themed phase by creating a horse sculpture from recycled materials. The emphasis on upcycling became one of the project’ s unique elements. Activities on animals such as chinchillas also fostered curiosity and observation of nature.
In the final stage, Scientific Blunders-4: Television and European Values, a partnership between Türkiye and Romania, the historical and social context of television was analysed through the lens of European values. Concepts such as tolerance, interest in nature, science, technology, philosophy, and art were aligned with European principles. Creative methods like the Six Thinking Hats and karaoke were employed.
Pedagogical approaches and techniques used The Scientific Blunders projects adopted an interdisciplinary approach, integrating ethics, art, literature, science, and music. Various innovative teaching techniques were used throughout the project:- Rebuses: Conveying proverbs and quotes using illustrated puzzles- Acrostic Poem with the Station Technique: Encouraging collaborative creativity- Q & A Sessions: Promoting interactive learning with guest speakers- Six Thinking Hats: Gaining multiple perspectives on complex topics like television- Karaoke: Enhancing learning through national and global songs in an enjoyable environment
