The Green Wave: Inspiring Future Teachers Through eTwinning by Marisa Badini and Luisa Lenta
CLIL approach with interdisciplinary perspective, from Science to Storytelling, Art and Music, using English both for BICS( Basic Interpersonal Communication Skills) and CALP( Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency) and ICT to share the final product.
What can happen when two eTwinning Ambassadors and project partners are asked to lead a Language Lab at University for future teachers training about ESL teaching in Primary school? That’ s music to their ears!
Luisa and Marisa jumped at the chance offered by Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Piacenza and planned to introduce eTwinning as a perfect context for real English language communication and effective teaching.
How to engage student teachers in such a fertile ground? Just inviting them to register on the eTwinning platform as ITE teachers, enter the project, know the topic and goals, follow the step-by-step process, getting familiar with the Twin Space and all its sections, being upgraded about what the students’ international groups were carrying on, introducing themselves and, in some cases, following the project activities in presence, as trainees.

Moreover, taking part in the project offered the opportunity to observe and support the active role of students working in team, improving collaboration, social skills and effective citizenship attitudes. The attendees participated with real interest, passion, active engagement and were asked to contribute designing possible development paths, related to the eTwinning project itself.
The final outcomes by the teacher training students, experimenting teamwork, represent a bunch of outstanding and valuable development paths, with specific aims perfectly integrating the original planning. True examples of how, from some seeds, a very big tree can grow and give fruits.
