Each article captured a particular moment. But when I look at these publications today, I see something more than a collection of projects. I see“ snapshots” of my own professional development. The topics, tools and methodologies changed. The students changed. Technology changed dramatically. But one element remained constant: the belief that teachers learn best when they learn with and from one another.
Writing about our work also taught me something important. Visibility is not about presenting a“ perfect” project. It is about sharing ideas, experiences, challenges and possibilities so that another teacher somewhere in Europe can say:“ Perhaps I could try this with my students.”
This is one of the most valuable aspects of the eTwinning community. We do not simply showcase what we have achieved. We inspire one another to try something new. Teachers learn as much as students! I was learning all the time, too. From other teachers, other school cultures, different educational systems, new methodologies, new digital tools, project failures and successes.
The longer I was involved in eTwinning, the more I realised that the project itself was only one part of the experience. The real value was in the community behind it. A project brings together students, teachers and schools, but it also brings together different educational cultures, perspectives and approaches to learning. I learned that collaboration does not mean simply dividing tasks among partners. True collaboration means negotiating, listening, compromising, giving space to others, accepting different ideas and creating something that could not have been created by one person or one classroom alone. This is also what I wanted my students to experience. They were not simply completing activities with students from other countries. They were learning how to work with people they had never met before, how to communicate across linguistic and cultural boundaries
