Helena Tomicǎk has been working as a teacher for 23 years. She has placed her teaching profession in the context of lifelong learning. For many years, she has been actively working and participating in eTwinning projects, thus continuously improving her professional competences, applying modern educational approaches and enriching her own practice by collaborating and exchanging experiences with teachers from different European countries.
20 Years of Learning, Connecting and Growing Through eTwinning by Johanna Chardaloupa
This is a personal reflection from a teacher, eTwinning Ambassador and lifelong learner.
The Beginning: February 2005. I still remember the day the Greek National eTwinning Support Team informed teachers in Patras / Greece, the city I am living in, about this new European project that was under the European Union ' s eLearning Programme and has been integrated into the Lifelong Learning Programme since 2007. The aim was to encourage European schools to collaborate using Information and Communication Technologies( ICT) by providing the necessary infrastructure( online tools, services, support). This innovative concept was really simple: schools are paired with another school elsewhere in Europe and they collaboratively develop a project. Until then, for primary and secondary education, only the Comenius project was known. But it wasn’ t easy to find partners, to write a proposal and get approved. On the other hand, to find partners, to cooperate and to create an eTwinning project from scratch has made it so unbelievably easy!
