Michelle Lindo-Rice

Welcome to the author spotlight! Each month we feature an author that uses her words to inspire and uplift the lives of women. This month, we are proud to feature Michelle Lindo-Rice!

Michelle is the author of 4 phenomenal book series: Nothing But Truth, Song of My Heart, On the Right Path, and Able to Love. All her works revolve around friendship, faith and forgiveness.

Michelle is part of Black Christian Reads, a group of ten bestselling and award-winning Christian authors. These ladies cultivate a community of readers and aspiring writers of inspirational novels that feature African-American characters (we'll feature another one of these talented authors next month!)

Michelle is from Jamaica West Indies and has been in the US since the age of 11. She was a pastor's child that grew up in church and always enjoyed reading.

"I had a secret passion for reading,"

she says, "and always wanted to write. I knew it was a gift from God so I decided to align my passion with

God's purpose. Soon, her first book Sing a New Song was born.

Michelle knew there was more than one book in her spirit, so she continued to write. She completed two more books and submitted manuscript after manuscript to a variety of publishers, but no one seemed to be interested. She knew she had a powerful story to tell and couldn't figure out why her writing was being rejected. Then one day, she received a reply in the mail that changed her writing career forever. "Get an editor!" the handwritten note screamed.

Ouch! Michelle was astonished! She had no idea how important the editing process was, but was relieved to know that her story wasn't the problem. She hired an editor and quickly learned how important a good editor is to the writing process.

"I learned alot by going through that

experience. If you can survive the editing process, you really want to be

a writer."

Urban Books offered Michelle a contract and her three books went through a major overhaul. What
