I really wanted to go on a ride with them but they are always at times when I can't be around so instead I asked my friend about them. The first point she made was about their openness.
"All are welcome, it is not like a closed family event, supporters, friends and of-course members from the hosting sim are encouraged to join the ride and the fun."
There are of course technical issues about rezzing a large number of motorcycles so a hosting club always needs time to prepare for an event. This issue of rezzing and lag is one of the reasons why there are rarely large scale races, it would be hard for it to be fair to all. So as I was told "It always starts with the usual SL hustle and bustle: 'my bike won't rezz', 'are my pants missing?' and 'no no, sit on the back, not there silly!' together with lots of laughter and greetings."
Once everything is settled the ride begins. "Our road-captain gives the go ahead and we ride off, bikes roaring, gearing up and down. Every twist and turn brings something, bikes bump each-other, peoples AO's play funny tricks, sometimes we fall through the road, we ride, talk and laugh. A crash is usually followed by 'Sorry!' 'No problem!' along with comments on the layout of the track, the scenery that people have built and a warm feeling of being together doing something we all enjoy. In the Gators we like to stay together as a group: we look after each-other and have a tail-gunner making sure no one is left behind because we really are a family and ride as one."
She added "Of course as well as going on cruises, we love having other clubs visiting us for a cruise". I have been made most welcome by the Gators, even if some of the aspects of Motorcycle Clubs remain as an enigma wrapped in a mystery and I hope to get back to visit them soon and would strongly recommend anyone with an interest to find them or one of the other clubs in SL.
