Captains, these are the people that plan our ride outs and handle bookings from other MCs on our track."
Whilst knowing of the strict rules within some real life clubs, particularly those that are often called gangs, I had not realised that such rules also applied to the clubs here and asked if Biker Law could be explained a little more. Rudh replied that there were a lot of similarities between real life and Second Life motorcycle clubs and that one of the rules of both was that the details of Biker Law were only known within the clubs, their own version of "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" I guess. So to learn the arcana, you will need to join a club.
I explained that I had been given a ride round the club's roadway by my friend Lilian but was interested to know what sort of events were run by the club. For instance, did they race?
"We never actually have races because when the club go riding we tend to go as a cruise... Sometimes when we are bored you may find us racing but if we ride as a family on scheduled rides its always a cruise."
"We love any excuse for a party. We don't have a nightclub on the sim but we do like to have lots of parties. We had a huge Hallowe'en event this year which has become an annual thing but we celebrate all the holidays with parties of all different kinds - sometimes live singers, sometimes tribute bands, sometimes silly family outings too"
I was keen to learn how the Second Life motorcycle clubs interact with each other. Rudh explained "There are lots of ways to relate to other SL clubs. One thing that we do at the Gators a lot is have a planned ride - once a week - to check out other MC sims. We also have alliances - friendships - with other MCs, and represent this by flying a flag with their back patch - colours - on it. These are people we share information with, can go to for advice and they are usually treated like extended family members."
