Welcome to the PMDG 737NGX Tutorial on how to setup the FMC. After reading this and doing the instruction with the FMC, you should hopefully know how to set up the FMC. First, click the MENU button, hit FS ACTIONS > FUEL and insert how much fuel you need for your flight, if you are not sure how much fuel you need, go to fuelplanner.com which will tell you how much fuel you need for your route. Now, click RETURN, and then click PAYLOAD. You can now enter how many passengers and cargo will be onboard your flight. Click RETURN again, then click GROUND CONNECTIONS, make sure all of the things on that page are connected. Hit RETURN > DOORS you can open all the doors through this page. Now you are all ready to start setting up for your flight in the FMC. First, Hit MENU > FMC > POS INIT, where it says REF AIRPORT, enter the airport (ICAO) you are at currently, enter you gate also. The gate will most likely not be in the database but, that is alright. If you need to align your IRS, click on LAST POS, and enter that in the IRS ALIGN to align the IRS. Then, click ROUTE, and on this page, you are able to enter your departure airport ICAO, your arrival airport ICAO, your flight number, departure runway and a company route (if you have one). Now, click NEXT PAGE and enter all the waypoints in your route. Then, click DEP ARR button. Here, you can enter your SIDS and STARS, and your departure and arrival runways. Here’s an example: My flight today is GGN7290 CYYZ-KROC. I will enter my departure airport CYYZ; I will enter my arrival airportKROC. My flight number is GGN7290 and I am departing from runway 24R. Now I click on DEP ARR and for CYYZ I pick the MAVAN1 SID, the BMPAH transition, and then choose runway 24R for departure. Then, I will choose runway 22 for arrival. After that, I will activate my route and click on PERF INIT. Double click on ZFW, enter cost index 45, and then enter your cruise altitude for your flight, then execute that. Then click N1 LIMIT and enter what percent thrust you would like for takeoff with the 24K, 26K etc. Lastly, click TAKEOFF, and enter the flaps setting you would like to use for takeoff (usually 1 or 5). Finally, enter in your V1, VR and V2 speeds your plane has calculated for you right next to the slots.
