Pained Love
BY ADRIANNA MINK
Heavy rain falls down on my skin.
Shadows of my past haunt from within.
Don’t tempt me with your allure.
Steel to skin, blood to blade, body to floor.
There’s one truth that hurts more.
There’s one that ruins the score.
The blackest tears of fear I cry.
As I look now at the darkened sky.
Tears of hate I tend to shed.
The searing pain tends to show.
My loved ones weep from dread.
As I lay in the shimmering snow.
Some day, I know I will see.
In one year, or two, maybe three.
With the sight of one more scar,
With the smell of rusty blood,
With the sting of my broken heart,
With the sound of ragged breath,
I release my blade from your grasp.
