lowed him.
As they peered around the left corner of
the alley, they saw the man run into a crowd of
people. Remy and Allise followed close behind
him. The man was in a state of panic. He
pressed through the crowd, pushing people out
of his way. Finally, he made it to the other side of
the street and headed down another alley.
Almost there, Allise thought to herself.
She and Remy started to go down the alley,
Allise’s gun at the ready. When they finally made
it down, the man was gone without a trace.
Allise peered all around her, and saw
nothing but a dead end.
“Great,” she huffed, trying to catch her
breath. “He's gone!”
Remy leaned up against the wall of a
building, catching his breath as well.
“I haven't run that much in a long time,”

Allise didn't pay any attention; she was
trying to find at least one small clue as to the
French man's whereabouts. She turned her eyes
to the brick wall that composed the end of the
narrow alley.
How could he just vanish? Maybe
there's a trap door or something here.
Allise took her hands and began to
feel around on the wall. Remy on the other hand,
found something a little more of interest. On the
ground beneath his foot was a small piece of paper.
He bent over to pick it up.
“Allise, I think I found something!”
he called. Allise was at his side in an instant.
“What is it?” she asked.
The words were in French, of
course, and she couldn't read them, but the
shape of the words filled her mind.
His gaze wandered. “In La Rochelle. The
bright morning star.”
His blue eyes got wide and a grin filled his
face.
“I know what this means! La Rochelle is a
town in France. This is where he was heading.”
Allise grabbed the piece of paper, and
then thought for a moment. Her smile soon faded.
“What is it?” Remy asked.
Allise looked up at him. “How am I supposed to find Collin if I’ve never been to this
place? I don’t even know ho ܁Ѽ
