If COVID-19 has helped us achieve anything , it has made us all innovative on a whole new level . So , with this year ’ s event turning virtual , we are encouraging all of you to make the best of a bad situation , and in line with all COVID-19 restrictions , create your own Virtual aQuellé Midmar Mile Experience .
You can swim it in the ocean , a tidal pool , the local dam , the river down the road , or you could even try swim in your friend ’ s parents ’ swimming pool … with their permission , of course ! Meanwhile , Mini Midmar Mile events have already been organised by local swimming groups in areas such as Umhlanga , Ballito , South Coast , Cape Town , Johannesburg and many more .

Let ’ s Go the Extra Mile and support this iconic South African Sporting Event . News that the 2021 aQuellé Midmar Mile has been cancelled has been disappointing , but not unexpected . In many ways , it symbolises the impact that Covid-19 has had on all of us , as Clubs , Coaches , LTS Instructors , Competitive Athletes and Casual swimmers alike .
More importantly , it calls on us , as resilient South Africans , to find solutions and new ways of swimming . The hour demands that we unite and not submit . In this regard , Atlantis Swimming Club will be hosting a Virtual Midmar Mile Rally at our local swimming pool on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 March 2021 .
