Your Golf Swing Is Not the Problem

How a proper setup can be the fix

Setup mistakes often create swing faults. The setup on the left with a weak lead-hand grip, a bent lead arm, an over-extended trail arm, and level shoulders leads to the improper spine tilt in the backswing on the right.

Many players spend hours on the range practicing their swing, but the reality is the swing likely isn’ t the problem. A poor setup is one of the most common issues among amateur golfers, which makes it nearly impossible to have an efficient golf swing, no matter how much time you practice. Even professional players keep a close eye on their position at address, and you should, too.

Let’ s take a look at one of the most common setup mistakes that will derail your swing before you even take the club back, which is the upper body and torso positioning.
