THERE ’ S A LOT TO LOVE ABOUT THE PEACH STATE . With scenic mountains , coastline and its semi-tropical climate , Georgia is a perfect golf getaway year-round .
Known for its bustling metropolis , Atlanta , and the sleepy , oak-lined streets of Savannah , Georgia ’ s Golden Isles are perhaps this southern state ’ s best-kept secret .
The Golden Isles are four coastal , barrier islands located halfway between Savannah and Jacksonville , Fla . Little St . Simons is the only private island , but Sea , St . Simons and Jekyll Islands are open to the public and easily accessible . With either a flight into the Savannah or Jacksonville ’ s airports , you can rent a car and drive right to your destination .
These islands have some of the most stunning scenery in the state . Marshland borders the western coast , while white sand beaches are to the east . And in the middle : 189 holes of pristine golf .
SEA AND ST . SIMONS ISLANDS
While Sea and St . Simons are technically two distinct islands , they function as one . It ’ s possible — probable — that you ’ d stay on one island but explore and golf on the other one .
