Heroic Comeback Continues
for Amputee Mullian
I
f you’ve heard of Glenn Mullian
in recent years, chances are it’s for
reasons other than golf. On May
16, 2011, Mullian was involved
in a horrific one-car accident on
Interstate 64 near Zion Crossroads.
The Yukon Denali he was driving
flipped, crushing the right side of his body.
Miraculously, within minutes almost a
dozen passing motorists had pulled over
and lifted the car off Mullian while medics
stabilized him before airlifting him to the
University of Virginia Medical Center.
Ultimately, doctors amputated his right leg
at the calf, and performed an untold number
of surgeries to repair his right hand, shoulder
and wrist, left leg, ankle and foot and his upper
and lower jaw. His wrist was in a cast for 18
months. He remained in intensive care for
weeks. Despite undergoing a revolutionary
surgery never performed before, his shoulder
still is far
