money. Whatever your preference, there are
some important factors to take into account,
starting with a fitting session with someone
like Hodson, one of “America’s Best 100
Clubfitters” as chosen by Golf Digest.
“Most people think you have to be a
really good golfer to get fit, but in reality, it’s
actually better suited to the higher-handicap
player,” says Hodson, who charges $100
per hour, though a portion goes toward the
purchase of a new set and may also include
follow-up visits for fine-tuning. “It’s hard
enough to have a high handicap to begin
with, but when you’re struggling with a set of
clubs that aren’t what they should be it makes
matters even worse.”
