Instruction

Measure First,

Fix Second

Evaluations are the key to improvement at Peak Golf Institute by HAYDEN MILLER, Golf Instructor at Peak Golf Institute

IN ORDER TO EFFECTIVELY improve in golf, every player should have goals and a plan to achieve those goals. Building that plan starts with an evaluation of your current skills, knowledge, and awareness across every part of the game.

In Ashburn, a new kind of golf academy is reshaping how players of every level are evaluated, trained, and prepared to perform. Peak Golf Institute( PGI) isn’ t just another teaching facility— it’ s a complete ecosystem built around one guiding principle: measure first, fix second.
Whether you choose Peak or another trustworthy home for golf improvement, be sure to have an evaluation on your swing, your body, and your mind before undergoing changes.
Peak sets itself apart by combining advanced biomechanics, tour-level technology, and a holistic player development model, bridging the gap between traditional instruction and modern performance training. Whether a player’ s goal is breaking 80, competing at the collegiate level, or preparing for the Tour, Peak provides the
tools, coaching, and data to get there faster and more efficiently than ever before.
Among PGI’ s clientele is recently minted PGA Tour winner Michael Brennan, who grew up in Leesburg and still works out with the PGI team.
THE MODERN GOLF ACADEMY, POWERED BY PERFORMANCE SCIENCE At its core, Peak Golf Institute is a full-service golf academy. Players come not just for swing lessons, but for a comprehensive understanding of their entire game— from setup and short game strategy to mental performance and physical readiness.
Each player begins their journey with the Peak Physical Evaluation or Peak Golf Evaluation, the gateway into performance training and one of the most advanced assessments in golf today. Designed by Jason Meisch and Patrick McGuire, the Peak Evaluations are where golf instruction meets hard science.
But Peak’ s true distinction lies in how seamlessly the academy integrates this data-driven analysis into real-world coaching. After all, data is only powerful when it’ s applied on the range, on the course, and under pressure.
THE PEAK EVALUATION: WHERE PERFORMANCE BEGINS Every improvement plan at Peak starts by asking two key questions:
Why does the player move the way they do? What exactly happens during their swing?
The Peak Evaluation answers both. Using an elite suite of technologies— GBD software and Polhemus hardware for fullbody 3D motion capture, Smart2Move force plates for ground-force and pressure mapping, and TrackMan iO for detailed club and ball tracking— Peak captures the complete biomechanical story of every swing.
From there, each player receives a fully integrated report detailing their distance, direction, consistency, sequencing, and efficiency, as well as any compensations or injury risks. This data forms the foundation for customized training plans that are both precise and personal.
As Meisch explains,“ We don’ t tell players what we think, we show them what is actually happening. The numbers reveal the truth and the coaching brings it to life.”
