After a long drought , Virginia has suddenly become a hotbed for USGA championships . The U . S . Mid-Amateur wrapped up in September at Kinloch Golf Club , and the U . S . The championship coincides with Farmington ’ s centennial celebration . The Main Course , a Fred Findlay design , opened in 1927 . Farmington also features a 10-hole East Course , designed by Coore & Crenshaw , that opened in 2016 .
This will be the USGA ’ s second stop at Farmington , which hosted the U . S . Senior Amateur Championship in 1993 .
“ Farmington has played a significant role in supporting women ’ s golf in Virginia , and we are very proud to once again partner with the USGA to provide a worldclass championship venue ,” Farmington general manager Joe Krenn said . “ On behalf of all of the members of Farmington , we are excited to welcome the world ’ s best female amateurs to our great club .”
The U . S . Women ’ s Amateur Four-Ball is open to female amateur golfers of all ages with a Handicap Index of 14.4 or lower . A starting field of 128 players ( 64 sides ) competes in two rounds of stroke play
