The Solheim Cup capped an unforgettable season for Virginia ’ s Lauren Coughlin , who has her sights on a new goal : World No . 1

AUREN COUGHLIN hit her tee shot on the third hole at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club during her Sunday Solheim Cup singles match against Maja Stark and began her walk down the fairway . At that point , it began to sink in . To her right , a young girl held a handmade sign adorned with a glittered American flag that read “ Let ’ s go Lauren !”
To her left , someone screamed , “ Let ’ s go LC !”
Farther down the fairways , chants of “ Wahoowa !” and “ UVA !” rang out .
Her caddie , the veteran Terry McNamara , turned to Coughlin and said , “ Well , you ’ re not anonymous anymore .”
A former University of Virginia All-American raised in Chesapeake , Coughlin has come a long way in six years .
