I felt good all day , and then on 18 , I just kind of wasn ’ t focused , wasn ’ t committed . It ’ s a great lesson . I think if that were the 17th hole , I probably wouldn ’ t have had time to regroup , it would have been tougher . But there was time . So I was able to kind of calm down and just take it one shot at a time .” — Lane , who made a 9 on the par-4 18th to fall into a playoff with Joan Gardner . 77th VSGA Women ’ s State Team Matches Winner : Bide-A-Wee Golf Course ( d . Mount Vernon Country Club , 28.5-25.5 ) Site : Indian Creek Yacht & Country Club Key stat : Captain Gigi Smith and newcomer Leah Onosato won the lead match of the final against Mount Vernon 11-7 . Career WST titles : 2 Quoting : “ This was her first experience playing at this new level of golf , being on a team like this . It was wonderful to have her . We need these young girls to come up . When you look around that room , we ’ re all aging up a little bit . I think it ’ s important to get these younger ones involved .” — Gigi Smith on Onosato , a recent Old Dominion graduate .
