Matt Sughrue , 1 up ) Site : Willow Oaks Country Club Key stat : Shingler won three straight holes to complete a rally from 3-down and dormie and force extra holes in his semifinal with Steve Serrao . Shingler then won with a birdie on the 20th hole . Career VSGA titles : 4 Quoting : “ It ’ s different strategy a little bit , learning to play different tee boxes . ALSO : For just the second time in history , the Captain ’ s Putter Matches — featuring the top players from the VSGA and West Virginia Golf Association battling their counterparts from the Carolinas Golf Association — ended in a tie . Trailing by a point after Friday foursomes and four-ball , the Carolinas won the singles session 12.5-11.5 to forge a 24-all tie and retain the Putter because they won last year ’ s matches at The Virginian in Bristol . Jordan Utley , Mikey Moyers and Buck Brittain each earned the three full points for the Virginias . The Carolinas lead the all-time series 53-23-2 . … Ben Choi ( Jefferson District GC ) posted a two-day total of 8-under 136 to win the 4th VSGA Net Amateur Championship .
JUNIOR EVENTS : Macie Rasmussen and Talon Dingledine won titles at the 9th VSGA Junior Golf Circuit Championship at Williamsburg National ’ s Jamestown Course , the second title for each this season . Rasmussen won the VSGA Junior Girls ’ Championship , and Dingledine won the VSGA Junior Match Play title . … Maryland shot a 29-over 677 to win the rain-shorted 15th Mid-Atlantic Junior Invitational . West Virginia finished second at 694 , with Virginia finishing third for the first time in event history at 701 . … The Carolinas swept the four-ball matches to jump to a 4-0 lead and rolled to an 11-5 win over the Virginias in the 41st Virginias-Carolinas Junior Boys ’ Matches at Boonsboro CC . … Tyler Fink of Chesapeake posted a 5-under 139 to win the boys 12-13 flight at the 17th VSGA Youth Championship , held at Stoney Creek at Wintergreen Resort . Rose Hall of Yorktown was the girls ’ 12-13 winner at 2-over 146 . … Tee and Thomas Garner posted a 14-under 58 to win the 6th VSGA Parent-Child Championship .
