Seeking to make a difference on those who’ve been
affected by war, Tschetter helped to coordinate an
event to help wounded veterans.

“We had a great turnout, and Kris put a
tremendous amount of work into it,” Estes
adds. “She has such a great heart and so much
energy. T tell you the truth, I didn’t realize
o
how big this thing was going to be. I don’t
think any of us did.”
It was a very big production. So large,
in fact, that Tschetter admitted there were
times she wondered whether it could all
come together in time for the designated
date. With less than two months left before
the Sept. 8-9 event, Tschetter decided to
get locally-based McKinsey Development
involved in managing the project, a move
that paid off handsomely in putting together
countless loose ends involving corporate
sponsorship and other crucial moving parts.
“We started talking about doing this in
April,” Tschetter says. “I knew what I wanted,
but it was hard to sell it on such short notice.
I was there on the Sunday night of the event
talking to a woman from McKinsey and I
told her this was exactly the way I had seen
it in my head. They did a fantastic job, and it
was everything I had hoped for, and more.”
This also was no ordinary fundraiser.
In fact, Tschetter wanted no part of silent
auctions, long-winded speeches and blatant
pleas for donations.
“Basically, I wanted the soldiers to come
out to the country, play some golf and
have some fun,” she says. “And we wanted
to give all the other people who came and
participated this neat experience of meeting
these guys, seeing what they have gone
through and how they’re getting on with
their lives. These people are just so amazing
in every way.”
