For that reason , Kirby noted “ it wasn ’ t even a question ” when Belle Haven got an opportunity to host the State Am for a second time . In 2018 , VSGA staff reached out to the club ’ s longtime PGA professional , Steve Danielson , and expressed interest in holding the 2024 tournament at Belle Haven as part of its 100th anniversary celebration .
“ This is an event that we ’ re proud to host ,” Kirby added . “ We think it ’ s in the best interest of golf and Belle Haven and it caps off a nice centennial year for the club as we celebrate that milestone .”
To accommodate increased membership demand , Belle Haven has embarked on a multiyear project that includes three significant golf infrastructure improvements : upgrading its short game practice area and driving range , renovating the clubhouse ’ s lower level , and enhancements to the course ’ s bunkers and the look and feel of some holes .
The club ’ s centennial committee , meanwhile , plans to create a special wall in the clubhouse that will commemorate Belle Haven ’ s 100 years of history . In collaboration with Ryan Gabel Design , the committee also has created a new centennial logo that is a refreshed version of the club ’ s original logo specified in its 1924 bylaws .
“ This whole year has enabled us to really talk about the story of Belle Haven ,” Regnell said . “ We have a big , full year of festivities planned . There will be no question that we adequately celebrated .”
