Flynn ’ s work includes some of America ’ s most famous courses , among them major championship venues like Cherry Hills in Colorado , The Country Club in Massachusetts , Merion Golf Club in Pennsylvania and Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in New York . He also had his hand in other Virginia course designs , most notably Washington Golf and Country Club in Arlington and Ole Monterrey in Roanoke .
But his work at the Cascades remains one of the crown jewels of his portfolio , one that is enjoyed by thousands of golfers a century later .

5 TH VSGA MULTI-FORMAT TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Winners : Sam Beach and Ben Beach ( 61- 70 — 131 , -13 ) Site : The Dominion Club Key stat : The Beach brothers made 11 birdies and no bogeys in the two-man scramble first round to tie for the lead . Career VSGA titles : Sam Beach ( 1 ), Ben Beach ( 2 ) Quoting : “ They played a very solid round of golf . They got out of position a few times but they managed to save par . We just couldn ’ t get anything going again on that front side . It was disappointing , but they played a good round of golf .” – Scott Shingler , part of the runner-up side , along with Justin Young , on the Beach brothers . The number : 3 — sides out of 37 entered that managed to shoot under par in the alternate-shot portion of the event
39 TH VIRGINIA-WEST VIRGINIA TEAM MATCHES Final score : Virginia 17½ , West Virginia 10½ Site : Spring Creek Golf Club Key stat : Virginia ’ s seniors and super seniors combined for a 9-1-2 mark on the weekend , accounting for 10 of the host team ’ s 17½ points . Quoting : “ I was really impressed with the super senior guys . I played the practice round with Dave Prokop and coach ( Jim ) Woodson . Of course , you have ( Jon ) Hurst and Buck ( Brittain ), who are amazing . And ( Jon ) Zampedro has been playing great the last couple of years . We have a

80 TH VSGA CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP Winners : Hermitage Country Club ( 128 , -16 ) Team members : Jordan Utley , Sam Beach , Ben Beach , Pete Toole Site : The Foundry Golf Club Key stat : Both four-ball sides from Hermitage shot 8 under par , better than any other full team in the field . Independence Golf Club finished second at 7-under 137 . Quoting : “ The Beach brothers played really good . We knew we had a lot of steady players and we gave ourselves a ton of opportunities . We watched a couple fall early to at least get us going , and then Sam got hot on the back nine . Pretty strong team .” – Hermitage ’ s Utley . The number : 7 — Straight wins for Richmond-area clubs in this championship .
