MINNESOTA IS KNOWN FOR ITS MANY LAKES and certainly more than a few of them provide scenic vistas and watery welcomes to golfers on the state ’ s nearly 500 golf courses . One might think more about snowmobile adventures or ice fishing when it comes to the North Star State , but

Minnesota has a long and storied history of top golf championships on some of its venerable private courses . Foremost is Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska , which has hosted the PGA Championship five times , the
U . S . Open twice , the 2016 Ryder Cup , the 2019 KPMG Women ’ s PGA Championship and will again host the Ryder Cup in 2029 . Located just north of Minneapolis in Blaine , TPC Twin Cities has hosted the 3M open since 2019 . A staple course for some of the region ’ s best golfers , the 2023 3M Open will be hosted July 27 through July 30 .
Bobby Jones added to his Grand Slam season with a win at the 1930 U . S . Open at Interlachen Country Club in Edina . The club was home to LPGA Hall of Famer Patty Berg of Minneapolis . Interlachen also hosted the 1986 U . S . Senior Amateur , 1993 Walker Cup , 2002 Solheim Cup and was the site of LPGA Hall of Fame member Inbee Park ’ s first major championship win at the 2008 U . S . Women ’ s Open .
Another Minnesota jewel is The Minikahda Club in Minneapolis , which has played host to the 1916 U . S . Open , 1927 U . S . Amateur , 1957 Walker Cup , 1988 U . S . Women ’ s Amateur and the 1998 Curtis Cup .
