CHINN STRIKES AGAIN

ADD ANOTHER AWARD TO KELLY CHINN ’ S EXTENSIVE GOLF RESUME .
Chinn ( Army Navy CC ) was one of several winners of the 2021 Byron Nelson International Junior Golf Award , marking the third straight year a VSGA member has earned the honor . Michael Brennan ( River
Creek Club ) won in 2020 and Gerry Jones Jr . ( VSGA uClub ) won in 2019 .
The Byron Nelson International Junior Golf Awards recognize the achievements of junior golfers around the world who distinguish themselves
This summer will be a key one for Kelly Chinn as he prepares to join Duke University ' s golf team in the fall .
with a high level of junior tournament play as well as excellence in academics , exceptional character , and a commitment to community service .
The awards ceremony will be held during the week of the AT & T Byron Nelson in McKinney , Texas . The tournament runs from May 13-16 .
Chinn had an exceptional 2020 , earning AGJA Rolex Junior Player of the Year and VSGA Junior Boys Golfer of the Year honors . He won the VSGA Junior Stroke Play Championship in record-setting fashion , breaking the former tournament scoring record by eight strokes on his way to a five-stroke victory . Chinn will begin play at Duke University in the fall .
DRIVE , CHIP AND PUTT Amelia Cho ( Belmont CC ) took fourth in the girls 12-13 division at the 2021 National Drive , Chip and Putt Finals at Augusta National Golf Club , the best finish among the three players from Virginia who competed in the event .
Cho finished with 18 points , with nine coming in the chipping category . She finished five points behind the winner , Yana Wilson .
Ashnoor Kaur ( VSGA Junior Golf Circuit ) and Ryan Hooker ( Trump National , Washington , D . C .) finished ninth in their respective age groups , both tallying 13 points . Kaur ( 10-11 girls ) got six points from her chipping , while Hooker ( 8-9 boys ) got seven points from his putting .
