Use your VSGA membership
benefits to explore some of
Virginia’s finest tracks
I
n most issues of Virginia Golfer magazine, the Virginia
Explorer section is reserved for intriguing destinations
that members can visit within a quick drive or flight
from the Commonwealth. But what about a good old-fash-
ioned staycation, one filled with excellent golf that can be
found right here in Virginia?
If you’re a VSGA member, you have access to the VSGA
One-Day Program, which features casual events inclusive
to golfers of all ages and skill levels at a variety of courses
and clubs across the state. One of the best features of the
program is that it gives members access to courses they
might not otherwise to be able to play at a reasonable price,
just $59. That price includes all administration, green fees,
cart fees and the opportunity to compete for prizes in both
net and gross competitions.
Cedar Point Country Club, a
private course in Suffolk, is
hosting One-Day Events on July
11 and Sept. 12 this year.
Other things to know about the One-Day Program:
• All events are open to men and women of all ages and
ability, but there are some events that feature specific
Ladies’ Flights.
• Want to play with a specific group of friends? The VSGA
will accommodate that request. Call the office or desig-
nate in online signup with whom you’d like to be paired.
• You don’t need to know the Rules of Golf from back to
front to play. Sure, the Rules govern all VSGA events, but
you don’t have to have an encyclopedic knowledge of the
Rules to play. A staff member is on site at all events to
help answer specific Rules questions.
• Interested in a little bit more serious competition? The
VSGA will conduct One-Person and Two-Person (Four-
Ball) championships in the fall. There are 10 qualifiers for
each event throughout the year. See VSGA.org for more
info on the full schedule of qualifiers.
• Remember, the key to getting the most out of the VSGA
One-Day Program is to have fun! Meet new people, play
new courses and grow your love of the game.
In all, the VSGA will host more than 90 One-Day Events in
2019. What follows is a sampling of some of the top-notch
courses available for play. Explore some of the state’s top
layouts over a two-month span and enjoy one of the major
benefits of your VSGA membership.
