... and Still Growing The VSGA Junior Girls’ championship celebrates its golden anniversary in July, and the event has plenty of growth potential by ARTHUR UTLEY D uring her early teenage years growing up in Northern Virginia, golf was plentiful for future Virginia Golf Hall of Fame inductee Robbye King. King, who played out of Army Navy Country Club, was encour- aged and nurtured while she participated in the Women’s District of Colum- bia Golf Association junior girls’ program. Clubs in the District, Maryland suburbs and northern Virginia were members of the association. The women ran tournaments for the juniors and even drove King to U.S. Junior Girls’ Championships in Greenwich, Conn., and Tulsa, Okla., when she was 14 and 15 years old.
