CROWNING MOMENT: Decker, a member at Chatmoss CC in Martinsville, won back-to-back State Open of Virginia championships in 2001 and 2002, the only amateur to accomplish the feat in the era of combined State Opens( 1985 – present). Decker won another State Open of Virginia in 1996 and has been the low amateur at the event two other times.
SIMPLY THE BEST: Decker won the VSGA Senior Amateur last summer at The Omni Homestead Resort’ s Cascades Course, giving him 27 career VSGA titles— either solo or with a partner in four-ball championships. The next player on the list: Giles, with 15 titles. Decker still has plenty of years left to add to his tally.
ALL-TIMER: With the USGA retiring the State Team Championships, Decker remains as the only player in the United States to play in all 12 editions of the event.
Donna Andrews
CROWNING MOMENT: A native of Lynchburg, Andrews reached the pinnacle of professional women’ s golf when she won the Nabisco Dinah Shore championship in 1994, the lone major victory of her career. In all, Andrews won six LPGA titles, the last of which came in 1998 when she finished atop the leaderboard at the Longs Drugs Challenge.
AMATEUR SUCCESS: Andrews won 10 VSGA titles, more than any woman in history. Included was a run of five straight wins in the VSGA Women’ s Amateur from 1985 – 89. She turned pro shortly thereafter.
INTERNATIONAL ACCLAIM: Andrews, who played college golf at the University of North Carolina, was a member of two Solheim Cup squads( 1994 and 1998) and captained the U. S. Junior Solheim Cup team in 2007.

CROWNING MOMENT: McDowell served as the essential link between the once all-volunteer VSGA to the organization that now has 12 full-time employees and offers services to men, women and juniors across the Commonwealth.
EARLY ROOTS: A retired banker, McDowell began volunteering at VSGA events in the late 1960s. He took over as executive secretary in 1973 after the unexpected death of VSGA president Jose Davila. McDowell played a huge role in helping the VSGA launch its VIP Golf Card Program and what is now called the VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation, along with the VSGA One-Day Program.
HONORS: Shortly before his death in 2010, McDowell was inducted into the Middle Atlantic Golf Association Hall of Fame.
