GOLF FAIRFAX JUNIOR TOURNAMENT SERIES Fairfax County will host its inaugural Golf Fairfax Junior Tournament Series this summer. The series is designed to highlight the growth of junior golf in the DMV area, as well as the seven public golf courses that Fairfax County manages. The series also offers a great opportunity for area high school players who are looking to practice and increase their competitive experience prior to the Virginia High School League( VHSL) golf tryouts that begin at the end of July.
The Tournament Series will be open to junior golfers ages 10 – 18, playing in three divisions: 10 – 12, 13 – 15, and 16 – 18. Each player will play five of the nine tournament events offered between June 18 and
July 24. Players will be awarded points for each event based on how they place against other players in the field. There will be one mid-major event where point values are increased, and cumulative points will be used to determine who qualifies for the series championship. Awards will be given to the top three players for each age group at each event, with separate awards for the Golf Fairfax Championship( winner of the Championship) and the Golf Fairfax Junior Tournament Series Champion( winner of the series based on cumulative points).
Players will register for the series and rank— in order— their event preferences. Each event’ s field will be based on player preferences, and by date and time of their registration.
