Ping Cadence TR Series Anser 2 W Traditional putter PING Cadence TR Series Anser 2 blade With Ping’s Cadence TR Series Anser 2 blade, the company is out to show golfers that stroke tempo is paramount to consistency, accuracy and sinking more putts. The head shape of the Anser 2 is geared toward golfers who take a putting stroke with a slight open and close the gate type of arc. It’s offered in a traditional weighted blade (340 grams) style coined the Anser 2 Traditional. A traditional weighted blade (350 grams) style with subtle wings named the Anser 2 W Traditional is also a part of the latest line. Meanwhile, a heavier Anser 2 CB (counterbalanced and 400 grams) model has a $50 upcharge. Putters with some added weight typically benefit golfers with slower tempos and can help them improve on their short putts. Face grooves on all of them vary in width and depth to enhance distance control. While both traditional weighted Anser 2 models come standard at 35 inches, the CB version is offered in a 38-inch length (Anser 2 CB: $235; Anser 2 W Traditional: $185; www.ping.com). NIKE GOLF Method Converge putters On its own, Nike Golf’s new Method Converge putters ($169) look and feel solid. The optional CounterFlex grip ($69 upcharge), results in an incredibly useful combination. The putterheads on all the available models have a top and sole that are screwed together with a polymer gasket sandwiched between them. That helps balance out mis-hits and promotes forgiveness, while storing and releasing energy. The oversized square and soft grip prevents the stroke from becoming too handsy. The putter also has a removable telescoping, carbon fiber rod that bears a sliding weight. When the weight is positioned low, the grip feels heavier—and vice versa. Golfers can find the ideal feel by experimenting with the weight then inserting the rod into the grip’s butt end and locking it. The locking key doubles as a divot repair tool ($169 and a $69 ( upcharge for the CounterFlex grip; www.nikegolf.com). www.nikegolf.com Author Scott Kramer is a writer from Carlsbad, Calif., and a regular contributor to Virginia Golfer. w w w. v s g a . o r g 38_Equipment.indd 31 MARCH/APRIL 2015 | VIRGINIA GOLFER 31 3/18/15 10:04 AM
