of bermudagrass out there, but they are
untested…and not as cost effective in the
sustainable maintenance routine.”
The bunkers currently take up about
130,000 square feet in the 18 holes. By the
time George is finished, that number will
be about 74,000 square feet. A number of
bunkers, including all those on the practice
range, will be removed.
Others will be downsized. The most
noticeable will be the 14,000-square-foot
behemoth that guards the right side of the
par-3 seventh green. The renovated bunker
will be much smaller and far less penal.
The construction method for the new
bunkers is called the Better Billy Bunker.
