THE VIRGINIA STATE GOLF ASSOCI- ATION IS ALWAYS LOOKING AHEAD . To make sure we have a clear , shared vision of the path forward , the VSGA Board of Directors devoted time in 2022 to developing a new strategic plan to ensure the association will continue to thrive long into the future .
Under our previous plan , the board accomplished such important goals as building our new headquarters , fully integrating the VSGA Women ’ s Division , and establishing the Virginia Golf Hall of Fame . By 2022 , the VSGA board and staff were eager to define a new slate of challenges .
We worked together throughout the year to reach consensus on priorities for the next 5-8 years and to formulate our plan to turn those goals into reality . As part of the process , we gathered the views of a multitude of our stakeholders , including individual golfers from an array of demographic groups , member clubs , golf industry representatives , and all levels of golf associations .
Our guiding aim in creating the plan has been to better fulfill the VSGA ’ s mission : To promote and serve golf in Virginia . We agreed the core values that should drive our decision making and actions were to be inclusive , service oriented , professional and knowledgeable . Our aspiration is to be the home for both the game of golf and the business of golf in Virginia .
The strategic plan we adopted features five priority areas , focused on groups we want to better serve and methods to strengthen the VSGA to fulfill those service aspirations .
First , we plan to foster a strong golf community through collaboration with golf stakeholders and organizations . We hope
Our core values are the foundation for the strategic plan . They drive our decision making and our behaviors . We commit to being :
INCLUSIVE We strive to welcome every person who is interested in the game of golf as a part of our golfing community .
SERVICE-ORIENTED We are responsive and helpful to our members , member clubs , golf professionals , superintendents , and golf-related businesses .
to expand our ties and services to local and regional golf groups , including the many emerging groups not affiliated with a specific golf course , and we want to better connect with Virginia ’ s large and diverse military golf community .

Second , we are committed to strengthening our partnerships with member clubs . They form the backbone of the VSGA . Golf in Virginia literally could not function without them , and we want our services and programs to help them thrive .
