LITTLE FITNESS CAN GO A LONG WAY, both on
the course and in life.
“Golf is the greatest sport because, with a little
physical training, you can play well for a lifetime,”
said Chrissy Griffiths, a Titleist Performance Institute
(TPI) Level 3 certified fitness professional. “Physically
speaking, golf requires good joint mobility and stability throughout
the body—just playing golf will not improve your joint mobility and
stability; we need to train for it.
“In fact, if we don’t, we greatly increase our risk of injury and
muscle imbalances.”
Griffiths, who serves as fitness director at Fredericksburg Country
Club, teaches weekly GOLFJoy mobility classes at both FCC and
nearby Fawn Lake Country Club. The program is based on Griffiths’
observations taken while leading golfers through a variety of mobil-
ity and stability assessments, using the physical screens developed
by the Titleist Performance Institute.
