Meadowbrook Country Club is a long-time , strong supporter of golf in the commonwealth and the ardent commitment of its members is especially evident this year , as the club will host three significant events in 2022 , including two state championships . Apart from the Richmond Golf Association Senior Championship held in May , Meadowbrook will be the site for the VSGA Women ’ s Amateur in early July and the VSGA Mid-Senior and Super Senior amateurs in October . Opened in 1957 and one of the many fine courses laid out by the prolific Fred Findlay ( he designed more courses in Virginia than any other architect including such gems as Farmington and Boonsboro ), Meadowbrook is an excellent test of golf . A past site of the Virginia State Open and the VSGA Women ’ s Stroke Play Championship , Meadowbrook has a long , rich history of producing some of the greatest golf talent to ever emerge from Virginia .
Meadowbrook was the home course of such outstanding champions as Lanny Wadkins , Bobby Wadkins , and John Rollins .

A member of the World Golf Hall of Fame , Lanny is a 21-time tour winner including the 1977 PGA Championship and the 1979 Players Championship . A fiery competitor who amassed one of the finest records in the history the Ryder Cup , Lanny is the lead analyst for the PGA Tour Champions and he will serve as the emcee for the 2022 Virginia Golf Hall of Fame Ceremony to be held Oct . 19 at Independence Golf Club .
Bobby is a long-time stalwart on the PGA Tour — having participated in over 700 events over his sustained , successful career — who had victories on the European and Japanese tours as well as four subsequent triumphs on the Champions Tour , including one senior major , the 2006 Senior Players Championship . Over his long , highly accomplished career , Bobby earned three PGA tour wins and collected over 18 million dollars in career earnings .

While the 17th can represent a good birdie opportunity with a well-played tee shot — especially one that leaves an uphill putt — shots that finish above the cup or in many cases even pin high often create extremely difficult putts that require a supremely deft touch to two-putt the hole .
