LET IT FLY I always tell my students that a committed finish position not only works, but it looks cool, too. Seriously, the downswing to the finish could be an instinctive reaction. Take the organized structure you have created at the top of your swing, release it, and finish with a stable pose. A stable finish should create a pose that could go on the cover of Virginia Golfer. Hold your finish for a few seconds, get a sense of where your weight is, and feel how balanced you are on your lead foot. NO YES W H A T T O P R A C T I C E MIRROR WORK AND MEDICINE BALL THROWS Get a sense of the correct mobile and stable positions we discussed above by spending some time in front of the mirror. Watching and feeling are the keys to success. While watching your movements in the mirror take a moment in each position to get a sense of how it feels. Take your time, put in the hours in front of the mirror, and watch your shots change. Try tossing a medicine ball to a friend or against a sturdy brick wall. With this exercise, you will start to see and feel your mobility and stability working together. Take that feeling and awareness, apply it to your golf swing, and see the results. w w w. v s g a . o r g J U LY / A U G U S T 2 0 1 5 | V I R G I N I A G O L F E R 35
