G
olf requires us to simultaneously mobilize and
stabilize our body at various speeds within a
period of only a couple seconds. You want to hit
the ball farther, but you don’t want to stray from
the fairways and greens. How can you do both?
Knowing how mobile to be without sacrificing too much
stability can be difficult. You have to know what it looks
like and how it feels when you perform the motion with
mobility and stability. Awareness will be key to maximizing
the movement in your swing.
Here are three keys to achieve your goals.
GET READY
Set up like an athlete and be ready to react. Picture a
shortstop just before the crack of the bat or a basketball player
on defense at the top of the key. In our Junior Program, we
call this the “athletic A” stance. You should be able to feel the
activity in the muscles created by this simple setup.
