Architect Andrew Green is overhauling Congressional
Country Club’s iconic Blue course
W
hen Congressional Country Club went looking for another talented golf architect to do
a major renovation of its iconic Blue course, Andrew Green was clearly a natural choice.
After all, when he was still a teenager, he volunteered to be on the grounds crew for
the 1995 Senior Open at Congressional, and spent most of that week raking bunkers morning, noon
and night. Two years later, at the 1997 U.S. Open, the Roanoke native was back in Bethesda, Md., this
time as a Virginia Tech undergraduate studying landscape architecture and agronomy.
