(atc) Recapping the Spring 51st VSGA Four-Ball Stroke Play Championship River Bend Club, Great Falls May 6-7 After surviving a water-logged first day of the championship, Harold Dill III (South Riding GC) and Kyle Bailey (Roanoke CC) posted a sizzling second-round 62 to earn their way into a playoff with Scott Shingler (Evergreen CC) and Justin Young (Ballyhack GC). On the third hole of the playoff, Bailey drove the green on the par-4 12th and two-putted for the winning birdie. Both Bailey and Dill attended Radford University, but only Bailey played on the Highlanders’ team. Dill was cut his junior year. Still, the two remained roommates and close friends, setting the stage for a successful fourball partnership. QUICK FACTS: Field and format: Six qualifying sites and exemptions produced a field of 48 sides. First-round leaders: Scott Shingler/Justin Young and Vincent Nadeau/Brandon Grogan (67).
