HOW TO PLAY IT
For players with the length to get beyond the left fairway bunker, the left side of the fairway is preferred off the tee. From this angle the risk / reward approach is a much shorter distance and the tree is less of a factor. The left side is also a better angle into the narrow green. For golfers who plan to lay up, the right side of the fairway takes the bunker out of play off the tee. Then there is a decision whether to lay up to the bottom left portion of the first fairway or to attempt to lay up on the second fairway across the water to the right of the tree. Whether on the second or third shot, at some point the player must overcome a forced carry and can hopefully avoid a Tin Cup situation.
At some point, players have to deal with a water carry if they want to score well on this hole.
