SEARCHING FOR THE BEST AMATEUR GOLF IN VIRGINIA IN 2025 ? Look no further than the Charlottesville area , which will host three of the VSGA ’ s signature championships in the upcoming year .
In June ’ s penultimate week , fans will have their choice of high-level competitions to follow . The 112th VSGA Amateur Championship commences on June 23 at Birdwood Golf at Boar ’ s Head Resort , home of the University of Virginia ’ s golf programs . Just across U . S . 250 at Farmington Country Club , the 3rd Women ’ s Open of Virginia begins that day as well . After two years at Independence Golf Club , the event moves out of the Richmond area for the first time and will appropriately be played at a club that is home to Virginia golf legend Robbye King Unger .
The Women ’ s Open of Virginia has a new perpetual trophy named after Unger , the six-time VSGA Women ’ s Amateur Champion and Virginia Golf Hall of Famer , and it will be handed out for the first time on June 25 at the end of the three-day stroke-play competition . College golfers have ruled the event thus far , with California ’ s Kaylyn Noh winning the inaugural Women ’ s Open and Penn State ’ s Michelle Cox winning in 2024 .
In July , the VSGA Women ’ s Amateur Championship will be played for the 100th time , and Keswick Club — just east of Charlottesville — will host the joyous celebration .
